God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan’s power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
In Bethlehem, in Israel,
This blessed Babe was born
And laid within a manger
Upon this blessed morn
The which His Mother Mary
Did nothing take in scorn
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
From God our Heavenly Father
A blessed Angel came;
And unto certain Shepherds
Brought tidings of the same:
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by Name.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
“Fear not then,” said the Angel,
“Let nothing you affright,
This day is born a Saviour
Of a pure Virgin bright,
To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan’s power and might.”
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
The shepherds at those tidings
Rejoiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a-feeding
In tempest, storm and wind:
And went to Bethlehem straightway
The Son of God to find.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
And when they came to Bethlehem
Where our dear Saviour lay,
They found Him in a manger,
Where oxen feed on hay;
His Mother Mary kneeling down,
Unto the Lord did pray.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
Now to the Lord sing praises,
All you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy…Peace to Everyone,…

And a Blessed Christmas to you and your family Becca! Thank you for the e-mail card, too. Beautiful. Our Christmas is usually quiet. Local son and family will stop by either Friday or sometime over the weekend. Nothing fancy then. But next Wed., the 30th, is Ken’s birthday, and that is when we have our big get-together, including any of Ken’s family that can make it. They are forecasting a possible heavy snowstorm for Christmas Eve, so think a lot of families’ plans will be changed.
@mimiwi - If I recall, you are up on the lake or very close to it. I’ll bet that weather can look fantastic but be treacherous. Stay warm and enjoy your family that makes it in for the Birthday. Happy Birthday to Ken. Mine is the 30th also and we enjoy the total celebration of Christmas, my birthday, our anniversary and New Years. John has always had time off for it and is now retired. We continue to make the most of the week though keeping it toned down as well. We will be spending the time in Virginia with Halie, Eden and Mitch again so it should all be very good. Merry Christmas again to you, Ken and all the children and grandchildren.
Becca! Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year to you too!
Sail on… sail on!!!
A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and John. Happy Birthday and Anniversary, too…you really know how to bunch up the celebrations. Dana and family will be here; Melissa will be in Ct for Christmas. We have lots of snow and more falling today. Enjoy the family and your special days… Judy
Thanks Becca for this Christmas hymn relating the Nativity .
