Edit … final edit on this blog … the final sign of hacker/terrorist desperation came into my email tonight containing you guessed it, the deletedo virus script and the email reads …

Subject: Registration Confirmation  NOW THAT OUGHT TO CATCH A FEW FISH … these guys will try anything.

Edits Below in purple and Pink …

Virus Emails, I wanted to write a quick entry … my emails are full of intended virus invasions.  They are coming with all types of subject lines.  I know most of us have good virus protection but just in case, keep careful watch over what you open.  I am getting emails saying I have been sending virus out (which I haven’t), subject lines telling me I am visiting obscene sites and they are watching my whereabouts as if they are the FBI and please visit a particular site to redeem myself, tons of emails  saying my mail hasn’t been delivered and each and every one of these have something to do with infecting my computer.  Take care of your valuables weather they are Dells or PowerSpecs or Apples, no matter they are very important to each of you.  The world would be a better place without the terrorists who try so hard to deceive us into opening those invasive, explosive and hurtful emails.  I keep hoping for the day we are able to blow these nuts out of the water with a growing number of highly sophisticated, increasingly intelligent email receivers and software developed to a stage we won’t have to worry about the fools anymore.

My first virus carrying email for today 12/30/2005, taken from the guts of the email …

Notice the .txt is a change my email provider made to the harmful file which would have been a .exe or possible a .doc and screen saver extensions are often used, a .scr.  I believe there are other file extensions that can carry a virus, also.   The Deletado is an old virus that should be well known by most readers and it is possible it was hiding under another name before it was changed by my provider in the email, I’m not sure.  I can’t imagine anyone opening an attachment with the name of “deletedo”.  Anyway, these fools will do anything to try to get you to open a destructive email.  CAREFUL AND THOUGHTFUL WILL DO YOU A LOT OF FAVORS.  Another virus traveling the net is being carried in an email with the subject line containing the names of two very popular movie stars.  It came in several times yesterday and I expect to see it more than a single time today.  Holidays seem to be a popular time for mice/rats/scum to play.

    *  Follow this link CLICK HERE for a peek at some of the many subject lines that come in to your emails carrying a virus.  Not all are listed.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas season.  Mine, so far, is very hectic.  Today is my birthday, Dec 30 and I am 62.  I didn’t make it this far by being so stupid I would open virus emails from fools.  I hope any reading will foil the idiots as well with good virus protection and good common sense.   I rate common sense high on my list of qualities worth developing.

  • Your holiday layout is beautiful! Sorry I haven’t visited sooner..

I’ve become so paranoid about email viruses that I’ve probably deleted dozens of perfectly harmless emails. Better safe than sorry, I figure. If it’s got an attachment of any sort and I’m not positive of who sent it, it gets double deleted in a quick hurry.  I don’t know what these people hope to gain from crashing and infecting our computers..very frustrating.

Hope 2006 is a wonderful one for you, Becca.

  • I’m so sorry you’re recieving all that garbage! I have been lucky in all my puter years to have had only one virus…but it was rough even so. Knowing that you are much more computer savvy than I, I am sure you’ll tackle it with time. Try McAfee.com though, it saved my tushie! My biggest invaders seem to be worms…hate those nasty little buggers.

  • Thanks for the warning!  I know my brother got one of the ones that said something about not getting his email!

  • HEY SWEETY HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT cHRISTMAS gOD bLESS.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR’S

  • I love, love, love the blinky Christmas tree (NOT holiday tree LOL)!!! Stupid email virus writers and spammers are getting on my last nerve!

  • I’ve been getting a zillion of those as well.  Ugh

  • Thanks….

    Happy Holy-days.

  • Thanks,  I needed that.    Thought I was the only one receiving weird things in e-mail.

  • I’m sorry that you’ve been having trouble with email viruses.  Even though I have virus protection, I don’t open any emails that I don’t know who they are from.  I have been receiving more than usual Junk emails lately, which I just delete.

Happy Birthday!  I think 62 would be a very good age to be!

  • Happy Birthday Becca!!!
Wow it is hard to believe you are being bombarded with so many infected mails. But yes, we do have to be  very computer/Mail savvy nowdays. Make sure our virus protection is on at all times and constantly updated. Never open suspicious, unwanted mail, and make sure it is all deleted when you go out. I never keep my mail open, and have it set to delete all deleted mail whenever I leave. I have spam filters, unauthorized filters, and Nortons, and am pleasantly surprised that the last couple of weeks have had hardly any junk mail at all.

Happy New Year to you and yours

  • A very happy birthday to you, Becca.  Norton seems to sort out junk mail for me. I don’t even look at it but delete it straight away. I hope you have a very happy new year. Marie

  • Happy Birthday Becca!! No virus attached…

  • tHIS  iS  yOUR  bIRTHDAY  sONG …….iT  iSN’T  vERY  lONG….

I’ll never figure out how you got to be so much older than me — smarter, too, but we won’t mention that.  Thank you for all the help you are to me and my computer.    As for the viruses — I have enough problems just getting along with my computer!  If it weren’t for you I would really, truly hate this thing — I just strongly dislike it right now…but I love you…lots.    Your very much younger sister

  • Hell, Becky, I even delete most of the crap that comes from people I KNOW (those Scrabble mailing lists, y’know?).  Mail from strangers is thrown out pronto, and when it comes to attachments, I have no curiosity.  Out they go.

I’ll probably still get whammed someday, but at least I don’t think it will be my fault.  Happy New Year, you.  And Happies to John as well.

  • Thanks for the “heads up.” I hardly ever get these emails; perhaps if I looked in my spam folder…? I delete anything from anyone who has no business knowing that particular screenname. Birthday? Did I miss it? Happy, Happy Birthday! I hope for a much better 2006 for you and John, a year without turmoil would be nice.

  • Thanks for the reminder. Hotmail prevents a lot of junk and viruses from coming through. Even so, I see plenty of raunchy stuff in my junk folder–which I just delete.

About the house, really $285k is low in VB right now. It’s very difficult to find a home that suits our needs for less. And we’re already paying that mortgage in rent. It must be nice to own your own home

  • happy birthday. Very sorry you have been getting those emails…

  • check out these icon sites!   october_icons’s Xanga Site……my friends icon site   Bellas_Icons’s Xanga Site…….my icon site

  • Oh Yes same here lots emails from the FBI LOL.  Thanks for all the information.  I have been deleting lots everyday when I open the email.
