Memorial Day 2009
Have a safe weekend Xanga
Remember our Military
“Pledge of Allegiance”
“I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God, indivisable
With liberty and justice for all”
*Our National Anthem
“Star Spangled Banner”
Written September 20, 1814 by Francis Scott KeyOh, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
*“God Bless America”
written by Irving Berlin in 1918
but not finished until 1938 at the onset of WWllGod Bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above
from the mountains to the prairies,
to the oceans, white with foam
God bless America my home sweet home
God bless America my home sweet home
*Be careful what you wish for.

Thanks for the links.
We have celebrated on June 6, the landing in Normandy .
It was moving to see about 2000 veterans of the war II. Some of them have been decorated like officers of the ” Légion d’honneur ” .
Love
