How Easily We Forget
© RSBlain
April, 2009How easy it is to forget, that which we seldom see
People, places, and events fade out in memory
When brains march multi-tasking to daily hum and drum,
Programmed tasks which drive us until work, each day, is done. It’s sometimes easy to forget, some voices as they play
On radios or IPod as they softly drift or sway
Some voices go un-noticed until a scream of pain
Recalls you to your senses, your attention to regain. It’s very easy to forget what we can’t see, or feel, or hear
Things we’re not directly party to, not in our path or near
Like someone’s son or daughter lying in a bed
Of satin pillowed casket with flag draped overhead.Forgetting’s like a virus of proportions not displayed
Like measles or a cold sore we’d work hard to clear away.
Letters, cards and packages are lotion for attacks
Of guilt-ridden forgetfulness. You can’t take forgetting back.A YouTube video,
REMEMBER MEHave a good week.

Every day brings news of more and more of our forces being killed- how could we forget ? They are doing a job that has been asked of them by our politicians, fighting a ” war “?. Your poem and the video are reminders of our brave men and women – thank you for that. Marie
I think your poetry is even better than the video, which must come as a sharp reminder to many. Very moving Becca.
Thank you
Very deep poem , Becca . Yes to be forgotten is to die twice . This is true for all of the soldiers killed everywhere and at any time , true for our beloved ones …( I read Nany ‘ s comment above ).
Personally I forget easily in the daily life but not the ones I knew and are gone . I think for you it is the same .
I hope things go better….
Love
Michel
I’m guilty of it myself. I’m trying to be better. I miss living, I’ve been so wrapped up with school
Sweet post….
I am however the only one that would have noticed the neighbour had binoculars…..
Take care of yourself…
