    A Poem

     Santa’s Flight
    © RSBlain December 2007

Snow and cold are foretold for the coming days
But Santa packs and bundles as bad weather doesn’t faze
He knows the Snow and Sleet forecast makes sleighs fly higher still
And when a sleigh is loaded up approaching yonder hill
Head winds are highly frowned upon but tail winds push him high
Exactly what is wished for when Santa’s Reindeer fly

Up they go like streaks of light with many stops to make
The faster they go flying, the shorter it will take
To deliver presents packed in Santa’s ample sack
Which Slung from Sleigh then Shouldered upon his willing back
Is carried down to every hearth or door stoop on his list
With a bit of slight of hand and magical assist

Nothing is too far away, No wish, ignored request
Every precious letter’s read so Santa can bequest
Creative dreams, sports gear and games and super action toys
And dolls and cuddle animals for all the girls and boys

Santa’s work now finished he feels the quiet hush
Endowed to joyful givers as a glowing, warming blush.

    A story:

GOD is sitting in Heaven when a  scientist approaches Him saying, “Lord, we don’t need you anymore. Science has finally created life from nothing.  In other words, we can do now,  what you did ‘in the beginning’.

“An interesting turn of events!” GOD replies, “Tell me”.

“Well”, says the scientist, “we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus  creating man.”

“Even more interesting” the Lord says.  ”I have a need to see this so please show me.”

So the scientist bends down, digs a clump of earth and begins his molding of the soil.

GOD watching patiently interrupts ,  “Oh no, no, no, my dear boy… You must get your own dirt.”

**NOTE** I have edited previous entries, sizing images smaller so my page will load more quickly for people on dial up.

  • I really enjoyed this blog and it’s given me that Christmas feeling – at last ! Thank you for sharing with us. I particularly like ” Trapped In a Snow globe ” the poor little mite, he tried so hard to get free. As for the beautiful women, need I say more…. I’m a tad jealous   Thanks again. Marie

  • LOL @ the joke. Lovely pics, Becca. Thank you!

  • Wowee! What a treat! Beautiful Desktops and a multitude of other treats shown to your Xangan followers. I feel privileged indeed. Wishing you and John a very Happy Christmas with your Family.

  • Your pictures a lovely, and the poem too… A very Merry Christmas to you dear Becca! And  wonderful New Year as well.

Thank you for your comment on my kids video’s, if you’d like to see and hear the “good” one, please read my blog on December 10th, they sing Wassail and it was always one of my favorites! My eldest DD is the one in the green T-shirt, and she is studying Vocals and music education in college, my DD#2 is in the white sweater, she performed in Italy with her choir and they came in 3rd in the world!
Which is why I am blessed to always have music in my home!

  • Such bounty Becca,  I particularly love “Women in film”,   quite well done.      And Jango is now on my list.

Yep,  he had it right – - – - – “Get your own dirt.”

  • RYC: Thank you so much for your comments.
And how right you are…I listen to my childrens friends talk of how they can’t wait to get away from their families, and how they hide away in their rooms when they are home and play video games, or on the computer…they never spend time with their families.
When I was growing up, my Mom played the piano (very badly) and we gathered around and sang songs, road trips we spent singing songs and playing license plate bingo! It was a small family, made even smaller by the death of my father and the viet nam war my brother was in. So just us girls..mom, me, and my sis. But the memories were something I wanted MY family to have.
My Eldest DD sang before she talked, we sang to entertain them when they were young, to put them to bed at night, to make the boo boo’s better. Our youngest DD doesn’t sing around her older sisters.. they shine a little too brightly for her to feel comfortable with it, but she does sing, and we have wonderful times just the two of us singing together. My 9 year old son loves to sing, I hope that will continue, if he has the right role models, I’m sure it will.
But the most important thing of all, the time spent with eachother. Our family is so close, we enjoy each others company, and the kids friends always congregate here, they are at “home” here.
And isn’t it sad that most families these days don’t know that secret ingredient…time spent making memories, laughing, smiling, hugging, being interested in your child, and just being together.

  • My first visit here and i missed the christmas post! arg!

  • A White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye is MKD’s favorite Christmas movie.

(here’s another that I accidentally discovered the othe day– it’s called Christmas in the Clouds – pretty nifty movie about modern day American Indians.)

  • Another vote for Holiday Inn “White Christmas”…long time favorite movie….

    Really enjoy the site-work…wow!

    Good to see you….

  • Hi Becca.
I spend so much time with my nose in the books here or I read so much stuff on other Internet websites that I don’t comment enough on my friends’ blogs here on xanga.
Thank you for sharing with me your holiday greetings. Christmas was okay, and New Year’s was a bit depressing. Hopefully next year things won’t be so much of a downer.

I don’t pay attention to ratings by other users when it comes to movies. I am quite capable of making my own mind up about a movie. Some didn’t like Firefox or Serenity, the TV show and spinoff movie by Joss Wheden, but I enjoyed them a lot. As an old school Battlestar Galactica fan, I really was impressed with the quality of the upgraded series that is showing on Sci-Fi Channel. As such, I really liked Duelist. It is currently my favorite Korean movie. The visuals, the story, the actors were right on for this kind of movie. I think that you will become a fan of an actor named Ahn Seong-gi. (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Ahn_Seong-gi.php I hope the link works.) Yes, in my opinion, it is worth the price of the movie. Make sure you get the version with English subtitles.

I hope that you and John had a wonderful Christmas holiday, and that the New Year was very good. Keep up the excellent work with the desktop images. They are beautiful.

    Take care, my friend.
    Jim

  • The color and darkness of the fire shots are good. I like that the shot is nice and dark. It helps emphasize the flames. Nicely done.
